BLANDFORD Bloodstock, who played a key role in the preceding week's Foal Sale, again played a leading part as the theatre of the Mares' auction unfolded at Tattersalls' December event.
The Newmarket-based agency was second leading buyer at the Foal Sale and its clients were responsible were some of the top-end purchases as the breeding stock went through the ring. Day 3's top lot Piste Noir - an unraced full sister to Three Valleys - was knocked down to Blandford director Tom Goff for 340,000gns. The Diesis filly was part of the Juddmonte draft that always commands so much interest. Goff said: "Three Valleys' Coventry Stakes win was breathtaking and she will be an enormous asset to any leading breeding establishment." On the opening day Goff went to 460,000gns to secure Festoso, who was third in the Cheveley Park Stakes for trainer Harry Dunlop in 2007. Blandford were successful, too, in acquiring the speedy filly Elletelle. By Elnadim, she won the Queen Mary Stakes as well as securing a wealth of other 'black type'. Her most recent public appearance saw her realise 340,000gns. The final stats for the sale showed that Blandford were the leading purchaser as they signed for 14 lots worth a cumulative 1,918,000gns. |
