BLANDFORD Bloodstock secured the fourth top lot at the one-day December Yearling Sale held at Tattersalls on November 23.

Agent Tom Goff signed the ticket for the final Sadler's Wells yearling to be kncoked down at the Newmarket auction with the pre-eminent sire of his time now enjoying retirement after an illustrious career.

Goff's 160,000gns bid was sufficient to land a colt by the great stallion for a client of trainer John Gosden's.

He is out of L'Ancresse, second in the 2003 renewal of the Irish Oaks and who also won a Listed race.

Goff said: "He was as nice a middle-distance colt as I saw on the day and is out of a Darshaan mare so it's a stallion's pedigree."
