In 2001, Goff formed Blandford Bloodstock with the greatly respected and admired Joss Collins. Since Joss’s death in 2004, Tom has been chairman of the company, working in partnership with managing director Richard Brown.
Tom has purchased an array of top-class performers, including several that have proved exceptional value and his enviable record includes some outstanding performers on the Flat. One of his best buys was undoubtedly Dutch Art who was bought for just 16,000gns at Doncaster before becoming a dual Group 1 winner at Deauville and Ascot and the leading English-trained two-year-old of his generation.
Among the host of equine stars that Goff has signed for, have been champion and five time Group 1 winner Dancer’s Daughter and 2010 St Leger winner Arctic Cosmos. Many other performers at the highest level include Group 2 winners Captain Hurricane, Winker Watson, Monitor Closely, McCartney and Group 3 winners Abigail Pett, Binary File, Formal Decree, Hunter Street, Striking Ambition, Grand Ducal, High Standing and Joviality.
Goff, who spent four years as assistant to legendary champion trainer Dick Hern assists his clients in all aspects of the bloodstock industry such as yearling and breeze-up purchases as well as the acquisition of horses in training for the domestic and overseas markets. He also deals in stallion and breeding stock management for a variety of large and small concerns. Goff helps, too, with the establishment and management of syndicates and partnerships.
Tom carries a huge amount of experience of both the racing and breeding industries. He has an excellent knowledge of the form book and worked for several seasons as the Racing Post’s Newmarket correspondent. He has a similarly extensive grasp of pedigrees and acted as a consultant for the British Bloodstock Agency, working for its Director of Sales, Joss Collins. It was the strength of their excellent working relationship that led to the successful start-up and development of Blandford Bloodstock.

Richard Brown joined Blandford Bloodstock in 2001 having spent five years working with stallions and breeding stock at Furnace Mill and Snailwell Studs in the UK, Darby Dan Farm in the USA and Windsor Park Stud in New Zealand. He became Managing Director in 2004 and has quickly established himself as a hugely respected judge of the thoroughbred.
Richard specialises in the acquisition of yearlings, foals for pinhooking or racing – and focuses, too, on the purchase and management of broodmares and stallions for both large and small breeders. He has also been very successful at the UK horses-in-training sales purchasing stock that have progressed for racing overseas.
Among recent buys that have made a huge impact on the racecourse are Champion and dual Group 1 winner Dream Ahead – a two-time Group 1 scorer in the Prix Morny and the Middle Park Stakes – and Balthazaar’s Gift, successful in the Group 2 Park Stakes.
There have been a host of other Stakes winners in Europe and the USA over the years including Group 1 Santa Anita Oaks heroine Ariege, another top American performer in Group 2 winner Masseuse as well as other Graded Stakes winners Gesture, Southern Africa, Raymi Coya, Turning Top, I’m A Dreamer and Mrs Kipling.
Brown has also shown a keen eye for identifying smart broodmare prospects. He brought Miarixa, dam of the Classic heroine Blue Bunting, at the 2004 Tattersalls December Sales for 55,000gns at the 2004 Tattersalls December Sales. Another shrewd acquisition was Tarishya, dam of Group 1 winner Arcano.
