Blandford sign for six in South Africa

BLANDFORD Bloodstock were active at the second Cape Premier Yearling Sale in Cape Town last week where they purchased six youngsters.

Blandford were quick to pounce when bidding got underway paying R800,000 for lot 5, a daughter of Silvano. Her sire is amongst the best in South Africa having sired the likes of Bold Silvano and Mi Emma. This filly’s dam, Alzeza, is a half-sister to South African Derby and Guineas winner The Sheikh and champion sprinter AL Nitak.

Just three lots later a another Silvano was knocked down to Blandford this time a colt for R700,000. He comes from a prolific Stakes performing family including Her Way and Shipmaster.

Blandford went to R500,000 for a filly named Snowbelle who is by Western Winter, the sire of Yard Arm and Ice Cube. Her dam, Fine Wood, has produced four winners from four runners.

R500,000 was also the price needed to secure lot 213, Captain’s Chronicle, a son of top stallion Captain Al. This colt is the first foal of Group 1 winner Nania.
