Blandford busy at Book 2
BLANDFORD Bloodstock recorded another successful week with 18 lots purchased at Tattersalls Book 2 Yearling Sale totalling 1,022,000gns.
Blandford went to 150,000gns for a racy son of Green Desert (lot 1163). He is out of a Groom Dancer mare who comes from the family of Massorah and Vanderlin.
145,000 was the price they paid for a precocious looking son of Kyllachy (lot 540). He is out of Client, a Listed winner by Docksider, from a good family.
2008 Derby winner New Approach was one of the most popular first season sires and Blandford secured one of his sons for 125,000gns. This colt is beautifully bred being half-brother to Group winners Prince of Light and Chateau Istana.
Yearlings by Exceed And Excel were hot property all week and Blandford secured a striking colt by the leading stallion (lot 1327) for 100,000gns. He is half-brother to a dual winner and comes from a prolific ‘black-type’ producing family.
The bargain of the week could be lot 566, a daughter of freshman-sire Mount Nelson. She cost just 55,000gns but was a lovely walker and is half-sister to Jersey Stakes winner Ouqba and Foxhaven.
