Four for Blandford at final yearling auction

IT was the last chance to buy yearlings in 2010 at Tattersalls on Monday and a catalogue of just over 300 had been compiled for what was a well-attended sale.

Blandford Bloodstock ended up among the leading buyers, eventually purchasing four lots for a total of 76,000gns.

One buy that takes the eye is lot 209, a filly by the French-based stallion Muhtathir. Blandford paid 25,000gns for this half-sister to four winners including a Group 3 scorer in Lateen Sails.

The Newmarket firm also went to 24,000gns to secure lot 290, a filly by Shamardal. Progeny of the stallion have been hard to buy this season and, being out of a Rainbow Quest mare who has produced four winners, she looks good value.
