Blandford Bloodstock

Blandford active at ‘HIT’ sale

BLANDFORD Bloodstock were in action at last week’s Horses In Training Sale at Tattersalls where they purchased six lots.

The team had to go to 31,000gns to secure a daughter of Elusive Quality called Capercaillie(lot 567). She was from trainer Mark Johnston’s draft and is already a dual winner.

She has already earned over £30,000 and was the winner of a Class 2 Conditions event and was third in the Shergar Cup Sprint.

30,000gns was enough to buy Clarke Lane (1154) out of Michael Jarvis’ yard. The son of Giant’s Causeway won on his debut at Haydock and has a good pedigree.

His dam, Wonder Lady Anne, won the American Oaks (Gr 1) and also landed another Grade 2. He will go into training with Simon Callaghan in California .

Blandford paid 20,000gns for lot 1199 Indian Valley from Rae Guest’s Chestnut Tree Stables.

They paid 8,000 for lot 1462, a winner by sire-of-the-moment Shamardal called Brave Tiger.

Blandford could have picked up a bargain in lot 1218 Desert Icon. The son of Desert Style cost just 2,000gns but on the best of his form is a very useful performer.
